Online Databases offers you access to a world of information from the comfort of your own home.

Databases, newspapers, online encyclopaedias and tutorial programs all feature in this list of online resources.

 The following databases are available for use from home and from within the Library:

Australian Bureau of Statistics

The ABS provides statistics on a wide range of topics including economic, industrial, environmental and energy matters as well as people and regional matters. ABS also provides statistics related to government, business and the community in general.  


Australia/NZ Reference Centre

This Reference Centre offers full text content from Australasian and International magazines, newspapers, news wires, reference books and company information as well as biographies and a fully searchable image collection.

Library members can login using their membership barcode. 




BorrowBox offers a range of downloadable e-audio books for your listening pleasure. The collection includes a range of fiction and non-fiction titles from all genres and caters to all ages.

Apps are available for both Android and Mac devices.

Business Source Elite

Business Source Elite provides full text coverage of over 1100 scholarly business, management and economics journals.

Library members can login using their membership barcode number.  


Cambridge Notes

This is the Library's Local Studies database. It is comprised of two main databases; the Timeline Database and the Resource Database. For more information visit the History and Heritage area of the website.


Community Newspaper Group Digital Editions Archive

Read a digital copy of the Western Suburbs Weekly or select from any of the other weekly suburban newspapers. 


The Computer School

This service provides you with access to hundreds of beginner to intermediate level computer skills tutorials and no supervision is required. Learning topics include: Computer Basics, Email and the Internet, Internet Research and Design, e-commerce, MS Vista, Photoshop, Publisher, Dreamweaver, Access, Excel, Word and much more. This resource can be accessed from your home computer or within the Library.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Online

This service includes the Complete Encyclopaedia, Student Encyclopaedia and the Junior Encyclopaedia. There are more than 150,000 articles, links to over 20,000 Internet sites reviewed by Britannica editors, as well as over 750 full text journals and magazines.

Library members can login using their membership barcode number, just follow the prompts.



A database that provides reviews, annotations, as well as author read-a-likes, book discussion guides, and feature articles. Novelist caters to readers of all ages.

One Click Digital

One Click Digital is a database providing you with downloadable e-audiobooks. There are over 500 fiction and non-fiction titles to choose from. All you need is a PC or smart phone, Internet access and the One Click Digital software or app and you're away.


Overdrive e-books

Cambridge Library and the State Library of Western Australia are pleased to provide the W.A. Public Libraries Digital Media collection, a selection of both popular fiction, non-fiction, junior, young adult and adult e-books to our Library members.

All you need to download titles is an Internet connection, a computer, smartphone or tablet, the free Overdrive app or software and the free Adobe digital editions software. Links to the required software can be found under the 'Getting Started' menu on the main page.

The West Australian Digital Archives

You can now read electronic editions of past issues of The West Australian on any of the public PCs at the Cambridge Library and at home. The content of the digital archive covers July 2004 to yesterday. This resource can also be accessed from your home computer, but you will need to request the username and password from library staff. 



Zinio Digital Magazines

This collection of e-magazines includes popular titles such as: Delicious, Donna Hay, Elle, Gardening Australia, The Economist, Vogue and MANY more! Download the e-magazines to either to your laptop, PC or mobile device to enjoy at your at your leisure.
