Oral Histories

The Town of Cambridge Oral History Collection comprises over 60 recorded interviews. The Oral History collection is filled with personal memories and historical anecdotes from individuals who have lived or worked in the local area.

It is a rich compilation of personal stories such as tales about the Quarry Amphitheatre, the picture theatres, wartime era, the plank road and beach life. The collection also includes a special compilation of interviews commemorating the Perth Commonwealth Games Golden Jubilee.

Click the link to view the Perth Commonwealth Games Golden Jubilee - Oral History Interview Reel on the Cambridge Library's You Tube channel. The reel includes interviews from athletes, volunteer drivers, coordinators, the original poster artist and more, played together with beautiful Super 8 footage and archival photographs.

The oral histories can be searched on the library catalogue. You are welcome to visit the Local Studies section of the library during the Local Studies Opening Hours to browse or borrow some Town of Cambridge stories.
